AI tools
Dungeon Helper includes a DDO knowledge server for AI assistants. Connect it to an assistant on your PC and you can ask things like “what’s the best Constitution item for each slot at level 30?”, “which augments fit a blue slot?” or “what do I need to craft this?”, and the assistant answers from real game data instead of guessing.
Connect an assistant
Open the Dungeon Helper app, go to AI Assistants, press Connect next to your assistant, and restart it.
| Assistant | After connecting |
|---|---|
| Claude Desktop | Restart Claude Desktop |
| Cursor | Restart Cursor |
| GitHub Copilot (VS Code) | Reload VS Code |
| Codex | Start a new Codex session |
Connecting adds one entry, dungeon-helper, to that assistant’s settings file and changes nothing else in
it. If the file can’t be read, Dungeon Helper backs it up and tells you rather than overwriting it. After a
Dungeon Helper update, connected assistants are pointed at the new version automatically. Disconnect
removes the entry again.
ChatGPT isn’t supported: it runs in the cloud, and the knowledge server runs on your own PC.
What it knows
The data comes from DDO’s own game files, is published at mcp.dungeonhelper.com, and is downloaded and
kept up to date by the server on its own. When a new game update is exported, a running assistant picks it
up within about half an hour.
The assistant can:
- look up any item: stats, material, effects and bonus types, set bonuses, augment slots, clickies, and the recipes that use it;
- search items by name, level, effect, bonus type, set, slot or stat;
- find the best gear for a stat, slot by slot and bonus type by bonus type, or items that cover several stats at once;
- match augments to slots, including Sun, Moon and filigree slots, and find items with a given slot colour;
- search set bonuses and list every item in a set;
- search crafting recipes by name, device, ingredient or effect, with a full bill of materials, and list crafting devices;
- look up quests (CR, XP and favor by difficulty, patron, length and story) and list the quests in an arc or saga.
The gear optimizer
Give the assistant your priorities, for example Constitution first and then Freedom of Movement as a must, and it works out an achievable loadout across all 14 equipment slots. It fits augments into the slots those items actually have and follows DDO’s stacking rules (the same bonus type doesn’t stack; different types do). You can cap the level, keep slots empty (say, weapons for a weapon-locked build), or limit it to items you own.
What it doesn’t do
The knowledge server answers from game data only. It can’t see your character, your inventory or your running game.
