Reload release notes

Reload 1.0 is the Dungeon Helper 5 version of Reload. It manages the same ammo, toggles, buffs, pets and gear as Reload 0.53 on Dungeon Helper 4, with every option under the same label. What changed is how fast it reacts, what equipment sets can do, and how the window is laid out. For how to use it, see the Reload guide.

How quickly it reacts

  • Checks run back to back. In Dungeon Helper 4, Reload ran one check, then waited for the Milliseconds check time (4000 by default) before the next. Because Dungeon Helper 5 runs inside the game, Reload now works in step with it and starts the next check as soon as the last one finishes.
  • Shorter pauses. Reload for Dungeon Helper 4 paused for a set time after every ability or item it used, about a second after each toggle. It now waits only until the game shows the result. Where it can’t tell, the old pause is the longest it waits.
  • Abilities on cooldown are left alone. Reload reads each ability’s own cooldown and doesn’t press one that is still cooling down. The status line says “On cooldown” when that happens.
  • Stop is immediate. Pressing Stop, or the toggle hotkey, abandons a check that is part-way through. Nothing more is pressed after you stop.
  • Your target is left alone. In Dungeon Helper 4, Reload selected your target again after every ability it used. It now puts your selection back only when using something actually moved it.

Equipment sets

  • Items go to the exact slot. A ring returns to the finger the set names and an off-hand weapon goes to the off hand. Reload 0.53 could not choose the hand or finger. Dungeon Helper 5 lets Reload place an item in a specific slot, which is what makes this possible.
  • Force Slot Empty now works. In Reload 0.53 you could mark a slot as force empty, but nothing was ever taken off. Reload now moves whatever is in that slot to a free backpack space. If the backpack is full, the status line reads “Cannot empty”, followed by the slot name, and the item stays on.

The editor, the Main set, the three Quick Sets and the swap hotkeys are otherwise unchanged. See Equipment sets.

Settings profiles

Settings profiles are new. On the General page you can save a character’s settings under a name, load them onto another character, and delete profiles you no longer want. Loading replaces everything except the character’s equipment sets. See Settings profiles.

The window

  • Pages down the left side. The row of tabs is now a list of pages in three groups: Setup, Character and Classes.
  • Class pages use full names. Alch, Arti, Barb, FvS, Pal, Sorc, War and Wiz are now Alchemist, Artificer, Barbarian, Favored Soul, Paladin, Sorcerer, Warlock and Wizard.
  • Start on Load moved. It was beside the Start button at the top of the window. It is now the first option on the General page.
  • The status message has more room. It sits after the Start button and the status light, and wraps onto more lines when it is long.
  • Old messages clear themselves. The status message is removed when a check finishes without setting a new one, and when Reload stops. The “Successful detection of Summon.” message is gone.
  • The Start page readout changed. It showed the time of the last check in milliseconds. It now shows how many frames and seconds the last check took.

The status light colours mean the same as before. See The status light.

Settings

  • Max passes per second (0 = no limit) replaces Milliseconds check time on the General page. It accepts 0 to 60 and starts at 0, which means no limit. Set a number if you want Reload to check less often. It is shared by all your characters.
  • Each character has its own settings file. Settings are kept in the ReloadConfigs folder inside Reload’s plugin folder, one file per character. Dungeon Helper 4 kept every character in a single ReloadConfig.json. That file still exists, and now holds only the settings shared by all characters: the hotkeys, the pass limit and your named equipment sets.

Coming from Dungeon Helper 4

  • Character settings. The first time it runs, Reload converts a Dungeon Helper 4 ReloadConfig.json that it finds in its plugin folder. Each character gets its own file in ReloadConfigs, including its Main set and Quick Sets, and the original is kept as ReloadConfig.json.dh4.bak. The conversion only happens while there is no ReloadConfigs folder yet. Dungeon Helper 5 keeps its plugins and settings in %LocalAppData%\DungeonHelperData, separate from Dungeon Helper 4.
  • Hotkeys. The start and stop hotkey is converted with your character settings. The equipment toggle hotkey and the four swap hotkeys have to be assigned again on the General page.
  • Named equipment sets. Sets saved with Save Equipment as Set have to be saved again.
  • Check time. Your old Milliseconds check time is not carried over, because the setting no longer exists. Reload starts with no limit on how often it checks.
  • Nothing was removed. Every toggle, list and option from Reload 0.53 is there under the same label, apart from the check time and the page names listed above.
  • Still the same. Only hotbars 1 to 10 are read, Reload keeps at least 20 in your ammo slot, and the options marked work in progress or experimental are still marked that way.
  • What might surprise you. Reload acts much sooner after something drops, because it no longer waits four seconds between checks. A slot marked Force Slot Empty in an old set did nothing in Dungeon Helper 4 and will now be emptied as soon as Equipment Management Enabled is ticked, so check your sets before you turn it on.
